How did you become a Davy/Monkee fan? I guess one could say I was what you'd call a "casual fan" pretty much all my life. I had seen the TV show a few times growing up, and my mom had been a fan since the 60's! Ironically enough, Davy was her favorite, too...hehe. That being said, the process of me becoming the HUGE fan I am now didn't start until June 28, 2000. I saw the movie about them on Vh1, and also saw the "Behind the Music" about them. From then on, I was hooked. I started taping the Monkees episodes that were airing that summer, and the rest is history!
How long have you been a Davy/Monkee fan? 6 years in June, and still going strong!
Why do you love Davy? He is just so gorgeous!! And he has a beautiful voice (complete with a sexy accent...hehe). He's an amazing performer, and he always gives 110% in whatever he does. When I became a Monkees fan, it wasn't long before Davy became my favorite. But, I think I started loving him even more (if that's posssible...lol) after I met him, and experienced first-hand how wonderful he treats his fans. He truly is a beautiful man, inside and out!
What's your favorite Davy/Monkee Song? "Look Out, Here Comes Tomorrow", "I'll Love You Forever", "She Hangs Out", "Daydream Believer"
What's your least favorite? Well, I don't really have one, but I don't listen to "Zor and Zam" and "Auntie's Municipal Court" as much as other songs.
Have you ever seen Davy In concert, and/or met him? If so, what was it like? Yep! I've seen him in concert 3 times, and each time was just AMAZING! The first time I met him, I was actually staying at the same hotel he was! It was 5 years ago, the morning after my FIRST concert, no less! My mom went down to the lobby to get some towels. We (my mom, sister, my mom's friend, and me) all had woke up early for some weird reason...hehe. Well, lo and behold, who should my mom see when she goes down there? That's right! THE Davy Jones! He was just as sweet as could be, and she got an autograph for me and her. Then, she called the room, and simply said, "He's down here." I couldn't believe it! As soon as I came to my senses, I hurriedly got ready (along with my sister and my mom's friend), and we went down there and met him!! We got autographs, and I got to take a picture with him! Of course, I could hardly speak, so I didn't ask to take a picture with him on my own. I had to have a little help...hehe. My mom's friend had to yell across the room, "She wants to take a picture with you, but she's too scared to ask!" Hahaha! But, as always, he graciously obliged, and he put his arm around me, and I put mine around him, and this man who was with him took the picture! Aaah...I'll never forget it! Definitely one of the BEST days of my life!!
The 2nd time I got to meet him was in the parking lot after a concert in July 2001, which was about 3 months after the first time I got to meet him. Just like the first time, he was a total sweetheart!! I talked to him a little bit, and got an autograph.
The 3rd time I met him was at a horse race, in November of '01. I had found out that some of his horses were racing nearby, and I thought that he was gonna be riding. Well, after awhile, I found out that he wasn't. So I figured at that point that he might not even be there! We (my mom, sister, and I) were parked at a place where you could still see the races going on, and we were very close to leaving (cuz I thought he wasn't gonna be there...I know, I should be ashamed!). But then, I realized frantically that I had left my purse at the paddock (where the horses gather before they're about to race). A very nice fellow Davy fan that we had talked to earlier is the one who found it! So I was able to get it back with no trouble. And, seconds later, guess who we saw? My mom said her famous line, "There he is!" And I simply could not believe my eyes. There was Davy Jones, right in front of our very eyes! So basically, because I left my purse, we got to see Davy! Funny how things work out...lol.
Well, until we got up enough nerve to actually go up to him, we kinda just followed him from a distance and watched the races (and him...hehe) until we left. Oh, and we did get to see one of his horses race, but another one of them ended up not racing.
Anyway, so right before we left, we got up enough nerve to finally go up to him and speak. My mom said, "My birthday was yesterday, and I was wondering...can I have a hug?" I can't remember what he said, but he was very kind, and gave her a hug! Then, it was my turn. I can't even describe how nervous I was, b/c the other times I met him, I could barely talk...much less ask for something like a hug (or even a picture, like in the first meeting...hehe). But, believe it or not, I got up enough nerve to not only ask for a hug, but to ask for one in a jokative way! I said, "Even though my birthday wasn't yesterday, could I still have a hug?" And we hugged!! I'll never forget it!! And he hugged my sister without her even having to ask!! He's a truly amazing, beautiful man...inside and out!
Have you ever met one of the other Monkees and/or seen one of their concerts? I saw Davy and Micky in concert in '02, and Davy/Micky/Peter in concert twice during the summer of '01! I got to meet Micky briefly at the '02 concert!
How many Davy/Monkee Cd's you own? ALOT. Haha.
How many albums? Sadly, none. However, my mom did own some, and WOULD still own them if it weren't for her MEAN cousin! *shakes fist at rotten cousin*
What was the first Davy/Monkee song you ever heard? Whoa! I don't even remember, but if I were to guess, I'd say "Last Train to Clarksville."
Have you ever written to Davy? Well, sorta. I've sent/given him cards, and wrote short messages in them.
Do you own any Davy/Monkee memorabilia? Well, besides CD's, I have the '97 tour book, some shirts, some autographed piccies (some gotten in person, and others were sent in the mail), seasons 1 and 2 on DVD, 2 keychains (well actually one, cuz Davy's broke, so the one I have now is the Micky/Davy one on the thermos), a poster, and 4 books (one of them is Davy's, and I have two copies, cuz one was sent to me :D). And I think that's it!
